The world’s finest sportive food stops
Mosimann’s famous cuisine on offer at Etape Suisse
Truly a first for cycling, Etape Suisse has raised the bar for all sportives by partnering with Mosimann’s, the private dining club in London’s Belgrave Square, owned and run by Swiss chef, Anton Mosimann OBE, to offer riders what must be the world’s finest food stops.
Etape Suisse combines some of the world’s most spectacular roads with five-star accommodation and cuisine during a weekend of socialising, sportive cycling and luxury in Davos Klosters, in the idyllic Swiss Alps, 5-8 September 2014.
Mosimann’s is rewarding riders with its world-renowned Mosimann’s mushroom risotto at the lunch stop, with luxurious snacks such as Mosimann’s flapjacks being available at other food stops.
Swiss-born Anton Mosimann terms his culinary style cuisine naturelle as it emphasises healthy and natural ingredients and avoids the addition of fat and alcohol; perfect for those with a healthy lifestyle.
Mosimann has cooked for five British Prime Ministers at No. 10 Downing Street for visiting Heads of State. He has also cooked for four US Presidents and four generations of the British Royal Family. He catered for 300 guests at HRH Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding at Buckingham Palace and a dinner to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee attended by twenty visiting Kings and Queens from around the world.
Anton Mosimann OBE says: “It’s wonderful to be a part of Etape Suisse and provide energy and nourishment to those lucky enough to be riding in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. I’ll be providing riders with exactly the right kind of food they need to complete their challenge, but it will taste delicious too; something for them to look forward to on the steep inclines.”
Etape Suisse is designed for both cyclists and their non-cycling companions and has an array of activities and entertainment for both.
The sportive routes are held on blissfully smooth roads amid beautiful Alpine scenery. Participants have the option to ride one of three distances.
The Two-Pass Endurance Challenge is 150km long and contains 2,900m of climbing, including the dramatic Albula and Fluela passes, while the Two-Pass Challenge crests the same two climbs but is only 120km. A third choice is an 80km route, the One-Pass Tour, which climbs only the Albula Pass.
For those who don’t have the required fitness to complete the routes, ride-assist electric bikes are on offer so they can still take part with their friends and family.
Etape Suisse has also teamed up with innovative sports nutrition brand Bio Synergy, to power up the performance of its participants with its Active Woman and ActiVeman products.
Robert Simpson, co-founder of Etape Suisse says: “Never before has such fine food been on offer at a sportive. With breath-taking views, high-end service, an inclusive activity programme for both cyclists and non-cyclists, an unforgettable ride and Mosimann’s food en route, Etape Suisse is the world’s premium sportive hospitality event.”
Etape Suisse guests are able to have their bikes transported to Davos and set up by experts for their arrival. Etape Suisse has partnered with top international airline SWISS to offer the best in luxury travel.
In addition, guests will be able to trial the 2015 BMC bike range and enjoy entertainment at an awards ceremony and gala dinner also catered by Mosimman’s. The gala dinner auction will raise money for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. Prizes include rides with professional cyclists and the opportunity to ride in the BMC Racing team car at the Tour de France. As part of the collaboration Mosimann’s has donated an auction prize of a day in the kitchen learning top tips from the culinary innovators of the London dining scene, followed by dinner for two in its private dining club.
Prices excluding flights start from £1400 per rider, £1250 per non-rider.
