The groom who was a barman at his own wedding

When husband-to-be Andrew Booth built a wooden bar to serve drinks to his wedding guests, little did he know that he was also creating a successful business.
In 2014 Andrew Booth and his fiancée Rebecca began organising their rural wedding on Rebecca’s family’s farm in Cheltenham.
Andrew is an entrepreneur who has started his first business at the age of 18 and has since run mobile bars and beer flow services at The Oval cricket ground and O2 arena in London. He is also passionate about putting on a good party and so for his own wedding decided to build his own rustic bar from reclaimed floorboards and galvanised steel, complete with draught beer/cider dispense system. Using trusted staff to manage it on his big day, the bar was a great success. As a result, many of his guests requested to hire it for their own parties; and so Drinks By Dexter was born.

Calaid Christmas Gift List buys warmth and comfort for thousands of refugees

With over 250,000 refugees and vulnerable people having arrived in Europe from across the Mediterranean in 2016 and over 50,000 displaced people living in horrendous conditions in temporary camps in Greece alone, the problem can often leave us feeling overwhelmed+. However, this Christmas it is possible to make a direct positive contribution to someone’s life as CalAid, the movement for refugees, has created an Amazon wish list. It enables supporters to buy specific highly needed items and have them sent directly to the camps. Items range in price from only £1.21 for a foil survival blanket, to £50 for a men’s warm waterproof jacket. Educational tools and books for children in camp schools can also be purchased in languages such as Farsi, English and Greek.

Meet the people who turned their passion into profit

In the old days people just stuck at their jobs whether they liked them or not – for the security, the tradition and for the reason that simply, without the internet, being an entrepreneur was far more difficult.

Now, with connectivity, access to market is now easier than ever. As a result, working for yourself is increasingly popular. Last month’s latest figures, which compare April to June 2016 with the same period from the previous year, show the number of self-employed people increased by 257,000 to 4.8 million (that’s 15% of all people in work) and it’s growing each month.

As this is a topic close to my heart, I’ve been speaking to some clever folk who were unhappy in their 9-5 roles and so turned their passion into highly profitable business ventures.

Client Coverage: Revolve24 in The Telegraph

JellyRock PR’s client Revolve24 has had a good week: as well as featuring in key sports title CyclingPlus, as well as in a number of regional titles and confirming six-time Olympic champion Jason Kenny as a participant, they’ve also enjoyed a half-page in the Daily Telegraph.

The coverage JellyRock PR has generated has been the result of supplying journalists with stand-out, memorable stories that fit their readership. When you’re pitching to journalists you have to put yourself in their shoes. What kind of stories do they, and their readers / audience want to hear? PRs offer an important service, not just to their clients, but to journos, bloggers, TV and radio producers too.

As for working with Jason Kenny, having spent a lot of this year’s Olympics screaming at him on the TV and celebrating his incredible successes, along with his wonderfully talented fiance Laura Trott, we are just a little bit excited to be meeting him on the Brands Hatch track at Revolve24 on 10-11 September.
